12-12-24 christmas minimix new

If you know me, you know I’m bad at keeping track of dates; holidays and birthdays are constantly slipping past me. But I think that’s why Christmas and the winter holidays are the only ones I’ve ever bound to. Every year, I have a month dedicated to throwing around as much light and warmth as possible, and in reward, I get at least a week off work to spend with family and friends. How could I not look forward to this? Naturally, I’ve built up quite the holiday playlist. Here are a few of my all-time favorites. Happy Holidays everyone :)

Finally on winter vacation, I had time to add a nifty little feature for reporting broken links! Every future post (bear with us on updating the backlog) will have one of these little broken hooks off to the right of each upload:

One click and an email is on the way to broken [at] syncharder.com, our 24-hour response line for songs M.I.A.! So next time that favorite song won’t work, no need to cry…

12-12-24 arty party

It was a very good year for Russian trance wiz Arty, who performed for the first time stateside on New Years Eve last year, opening for my other favorite deej in an ultimate Pier 94 throwdown for my 10,000 best friends and I. After returning to my Nice List twice this past year, with just-as-amazing performances at Pacha NYC and a sold-out Governor’s Island, the king started up a crazy-good podcast. Well, Arty’s back for another New York New Years, this time at Pacha with fellow tranceman Sander van Doorn… headed for the EDM history books!

★ Above & Beyond ft. Zoë Johnston – Alchemy

Sunday mornings are fairly exclusively reserved for trancing around in the SyncHarder household, and with what better accompaniment than three of our favorite wizards, Englishmen Jono, Tony and Paavo of Above & Beyond, who’ve recently released this addition in a string of highly successful original mixes. Their productions in the trance genre — music, video, and tours all included — are known for their unreachably high caliber, and their weekly radio show sets a global benchmark among music podcasts. But don’t just take it from me…

The unfortunate audience to a string of recent spectaculars by Mother Nature (hurricanes, snowstorms, hailstorms, you name it…), the City That Never Sleeps never once yielded its dance ambitions. Bound together by glowstick-lit nights and work-free days, New Yorkers kept each other warm in our time off, dancing with the best at Lavo or Cipriani hurricane-night, sharing showers and electric with others at our gyms, offering shelter to our friends without power. And despite some severe changes to our norms, New Yorkers everywhere stopped what they were doing to help one another. So here, a mix to toast the warmth felt in full during a time of need… Cheers! :)

★ Dash Berlin ft. Kate Walsh – When You Were Around (Album Version)

One of the things on which this blog subsists are the bizarre connections drawn between music of such a wide range of varietals; trap remixes of indie music meld with slow-tempo’d pop makeovers in a seamless juxtaposition formulated from top hits, best searches and suggestions, and (if I may be so presumptuous) a keen eye on the charts. So here Scuba sits, staring out into an incredibly foggy Manhattan abyss, and he can only think, “Today is for trance.”

With ASOT 600: NYC tickets on the verge of sale, it was too fitting to be falling back in love with these light, low-stress beats of ethereal happiness. Dutch master Dash Berlin is a particular favorite, with some beautiful videos to match his painstakingly-perfect studio productions. Fingers crossed he’ll be joining us March 30th for #ASOT600NYC…!
