The latest from incredible Aussie 18-year-old John Walden has finally hit the web. His upbeat, synth-layered remix of Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl’s “In My Mind,” first made anthemic by sir Axwell, has been jumping around the top 10 of Beatport’s Progressive House since the moment it was released…a month ago. Check this kid out — he started with AcidPro software at age twelve while on a field trip…
There are only a few things I’d get my ass up outta bed to do at this time of night… Posting this was one of those. Adorable Rooskie Artem Stolyarov, aka ARTY, has been producing some immense podcasts lately, titled “2gether We Are“. The most recent featured his very own remix of Zedd‘s Spectrum, and it is beyond excellent… Enjoy the track below (particularly Arty-ish around the 2-minute mark), followed by his podcast #7 in full!
Fave frenchie Jean-Christophe Le Saoût, aka Wax Tailor, first entered my library as an “iTunes Suggested Listening” when, in 2005, he created and produced his first solo album, Tales of the Forgotten Melodies, a nouveau form of lounge music dubbed “orchestral hiphop” that met major success in his home country of France. He produced two more super-cool albums in ’07 and ’09 before deciding to take some time off after a worldwide tour. Well, the date’s finally been set for his next new album, Dusty Rainbow from the Dark, and an EP already out, featuring a remix by another longtime favorite, RJD2! The full album comes out September 10th in Europe, the 18th in the U.S.!
This track was a big favorite of mine when it was first heard a few months ago during Avicii’s New Years Eve bash in New York, and finally, I can offer you the full mix, in all its glory. Delicate vocals by Mr. Turner fuse blissfully into the perfectly-ethereal beats powered by the Avicii we’ve come to know and love in this solid house anthem. A+
Well this was unexpected. Apparently, rather than sink from low ticket sales at Act II with Fedde Le Grand earlier this year, the producers of Cosmic Opera have actually extended their group into three divisions, adding Cosmic Concepts and Cosmic Management. The former of which, Cosmic Concepts, has just announced a FREE showcase performance for its newly-acquired talent, including electronic hits Filo & Peri, David Dann, and George Garcia. You’ll still need a ticket, though, available HERE tomorrow, Wednesday the 15th, at 11am!
The hard-syncing team behind Sync Harder was syncing with all their might over the past weekend at Veld Music Festival in Toronto, Canada. An inaugural EDM fest and the only one of its kind for the area, Veld was an immeasurable success; people, musical talent, amenities — and I’ve promised full reviews of all these festivals, I know, and this one is another to tack onto the “forthcoming” section — but suffice it to say for now that it was incredible, and you should attend next year.
One act of particular syncing awesomeness, who also happened to be the first act to greet us, was mister Deniz Koyu, yet another incredibly talented Dutchman you might’ve caught (and danced to, all without realizing) at the Cosmic Opera, where he opened the second act with remarkable bootlegs and transitioning-grace before Fedde took the stage and melted our faces. Anyways, it was 2pm in Canada when Koyu came on, hot as hell, and yet I found myself literally cartwheeling onto the mostly-open field. Give him a shot.
I kicked myself HARD when I skipped this last year, so when I saw that one of my fave brit DJs Bonobo was doing another round of Rocks Off’s awesome concert cruise series, wherein guests are treated to 3+ hours of sunset cruising around Manhattan Isle listening to sweet, smooth beats — and just before my birthday! — I had to buy. 30$ for tickets HERE.
Bonobo creates the smoothest of cool lounge music that undulates between a drum ‘n’ bass and jazz-type feeling (see his mix below at the 14′-mark to see exactly what I mean). It makes for great music to chill, sip, and chat, that’s for sure. :)
Swedish House Mafia, the insurmountable trio that is Axwell, Angello, and Ingrosso, have been propagating rumors that their upcoming tour will be their last, and the release of their first single from the album, “Don’t You Worry Child,” the start to their final album… Sad news, but a good track…! Please don’t go…
