♬ Pretty Lights – We Must Go On

After a recent global tour, Derek Vincent Smith, aka Pretty Lights, filmed and edited this effects-loaded FCP video to accompany his latest release, We Must Go On. Dude had a pretty busy year, traveling from New York to Australia and everywhere in between; it’s interesting to see what he saw.

psst, he’ll be at ultra :)

The Doors recently teamed up with Sonny Delight mister Skrillex to produce a documentary about the development of electronic music in the latest generation (“ReGeneration”), and, basically, how they can still fit in. But what they came up was bangin’, and then fave homeboy Zedd came along and showed us what he thought of it all…

★ Skrillex – Breakin’ A Sweat (Zedd Remix) NSFW !

No, not Zed’s Dead — this 21-y.o., Beatport-signed, Russian mastermind is very much alive. In fact, he’ll be in New York this Wednesday, with his bff Skrillex at Pacha! You should REALLY go if there are still tickets. This Tommy Trash-esque beat machine has been spinning since he was 13 and got inspired by Daft Punk’s album “Discovery”. First, one of his latest, one of my favorites; and second, another mix with Skrillmonster. You should also hear his ragin’ remix of Save the World, his first mix to cross my ears. Love at first listen.

Oh yea, and the only group to ever make sax sound remotely sexy, Big Gigantic, will be there too, playing tracks from their new (free!) EP, Nocturnal. =D

♬ Nicky Romero – Generation 303 (Preview)

Nicky Romero has been dropping bits and pieces of his newest “Generation 303” original mix all over the place the past several weeks…and it’s goood. Somewhere between house, trance, and electronic music, Romero throws down a metallic backbone, house-style constant crescendo, and sweet vocal samples to create this trip of a song.

While it’s tricky to find out much about the mysterious NilsOfficial, it does not take long to realize the German’s serious skillz in mashing. Between the major mash below of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” and The Wanted’s “Warzone” (Basto! remix), and the mash of Taio Cruz and Britney to follow, Nils is on the road to better and better…

Right on the curtails of an epic Calvin Harris concert at Pacha NYC this past weekend, I uncover this gem of a cover: TV’s Glee doing We Found Love, originally by Calvin Harris and Rihanna!

And this just in: Calvin’s gonna be at TOMORROWLAND! If you don’t know what that is yet, inform yourself for godsakes.

♬ The Piano Guys ft. Alex Boye – Peponi (Coldplay’s “Paradise” African Style Piano & Cello Cover)

I’m a Coldplay fiiiiend. It takes spending about 5 minutes with me to figure that out. I also love traveling, and a few years ago I spent a month in South Africa on a community service trip for my university. It took a day or two to discover what a musically affluent country I had landed in. Every night was spent with music in the air, often live, and everyone was quick to suggest more favorite bands. Even now, I try to keep up with the many headlining South African artists, and The Piano Guys are now one more group on the list!
