Update (5/07): I was a bad friend… I missed posting about the amazing presale to this year’s finally-confirmed Electric Zoo. But — and I’m letting you know now — some of the world’s greatest electronic artists are set to convene this Labor Day weekend at the infamous Randall’s Island, NYC. Get your (um, ridiculously-overpriced) ticket here!

Update (5/03): After a rapidfire presale, A&B’s 100th Group Therapy tickets went back on sale to the general public and sold out almost just as quick… If you weren’t one of the lucky ones, we recommend posting a “Wanted” listing on Craig’s List or trying this ticket-exchange Facebook group over StubHub. In celebration, the group released the official video for their latest single, “Sticky Fingers”. Nothing less than the best, as usual.

This event is just too good to miss. As part of the tail end of his “Damage Control” U.S. tour, Mat Zo is hosting a meet-and-greet with opening funky guests Treasure Fingers at the legendary (read: outdated and kinda dilapidated, but whatever) Pacha NYC. $10 before midnight. Let’s do this.
PS, As with all Mat Zo songs, let this one some time to warm up. That slowdown at 2-minutes…mmmm!

I will never forget the first time I heard Shpongle perform: the sun was rising over the Baltimore waterfront during the last couple hours of Starscape and just as I was losing steam, a crowd was forming around the main stage. The combination of psychadelic trance, ambient music, and world sounds completely blew me away while their intricately built stage – aptly called Shpongletron – held me captivated for the full 90 minute set. Above is just a glimpse at the production of their first ever stage. Simon just announced a stacked spring tour to promote their new album “Museum of Consciousness” that includes a brand-new Sphongletron 3.0 stage set-up. A definite MUST-SEE if you can get yourself to any of their shows — see where Simon is touring at ShpongleMusic.com!

I’d heard some rumors, and on October 25th, Roseland confirmed the bad news: they will be shuttering their doors at the end of April ’14. As with the passing of any dear one, there are a slew of shows planned to honor its glorious near-century. But before we start the tears, we want to know: who would you most want to see? I don’t care if it’s someone you’ve seen there, saw at Ultra, or want to see for the first time.

Update (9/02): I wasn’t sure how to write this update. After an amazing Friday and Saturday at the zoo, I woke up on Sunday to the heartbreaking notification that day three had been canceled. After a press release from the mayor, it became clear our idyllic days had not been so perfect for all. I was terrified to read of the deaths and comas of several fellow ezooers (more). As an EMT, musician, and fellow zoo-fanatic, it frightens me to think our once penultimate, happy and welcoming culture has changed.
