I will never forget the first music video I saw on MTV. I was standing in our family room, ready to give up on whatever was on, ’til the soft strokes of “The Scientist” suddenly rang forth persistently from the set. Chris Martin had appeared, walking in reverse, traversing the stage of some faraway land, and my love for Coldplay became solidified in those four-odd minutes.
It has yet to abate, especially with this latest, a Bon Hiver-esque, smoky nighttime song released as a preview for their May album. I waited out the first week in hopes of a masterful rework to spring up, and it is Urban Contact I found success: an Adrian Lux type synth and sharp snare beat. Killin’ it.
I’m honestly stunned to not have posted this sooner. Australian crooner Chet Faker really digs deep with this first single of his debut album, Built On Glass, due out mid-April — not to mention this zen video! If you’re on the East Coast like me, this is perfect in time for the coldest Hump Day of the year…….BRRRRR!
HEY BROOKLYN. SHUT UP, SIT DOWN, AND WATCH.
Be seeing you soon.
Update (2/14):Registration for the presale has just opened here!
This fall, the creators of the infamous, notorious Block Parties will be taking their throwdown to the open waters. From November 12-16, venture to Nassau in the Bahamas, partying with Big Gigantic, Cashmere Cat, Dillon Francis, Diplo, DJ Snake, Major Lazer, Wolfgang Gartner, and a bunch more.
My absolute favorite off the new Above & Beyond Acoustic album is “Miracle”. Its delicate beauty truly shows off the talents of Tony (playing guitar), Paavo (cello), and Jono (vibraphone) and their newly-adapted album in a remarkable way. Couldn’t sleep without sharing.
With the full album due for release next Tuesday, most of Above & Beyond‘s new Acoustic cover CD has leaked, with two beautiful video releases.
A Serbian participant of the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy, Marko Milićević, aka Gramophonedzie, brings a beautiful lounge hop to old-world big band. Throw in some kooky, eccentric music videos and I’m sold…
Feeling a bit ill this evening, so this new acoustic of an old Hardwell favorite really resonated with me… Enjoy!

I will never forget the first time I heard Shpongle perform: the sun was rising over the Baltimore waterfront during the last couple hours of Starscape and just as I was losing steam, a crowd was forming around the main stage. The combination of psychadelic trance, ambient music, and world sounds completely blew me away while their intricately built stage – aptly called Shpongletron – held me captivated for the full 90 minute set. Above is just a glimpse at the production of their first ever stage. Simon just announced a stacked spring tour to promote their new album “Museum of Consciousness” that includes a brand-new Sphongletron 3.0 stage set-up. A definite MUST-SEE if you can get yourself to any of their shows — see where Simon is touring at ShpongleMusic.com!
