In their typical teasingly-mysterious fashion, Daft Punk aired this quick, 15-second teaser to promote their new album with Columbia Records in the middle of last night’s Saturday Night Live. And though unconfirmed, the track below has been floating around for a few weeks now, claiming to be a leaked single from the new album… Either way, time to get excited — Daft Punk is back!

At the beginning of last month, goldenboy superproducer Avicii announced a project in which he’d review submissions for melodies, basslines, beats, rhythms, breaks and effects to create one internationally-collaborative track. Reminiscent of the days of The Postal Service (who are, by the way, back on tour…?!), mailing recordings of vocals and effects crosscountry back in 2003 to create hits like “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight”, Avicii x You.com received nearly 13,000 submissions from 4000+ artists in 140 countries. What resulted is a happy, light, bouncy house tune that one will be sure to hear in Avicii sets. Melody, kian sang; bassline, DJ Naxsy; beat/rhythm, Martin Kupilas; break, ВАНЯ ХАКСИ; and effects, Jonathan Madray, Mateusz Kolata, and Christian Westphalen.

Avicii also recently celebrated 3 million likes on Facebook by releasing a new mix of “Your Love is So Amazing”. His video productions have been top-notch lately, so I thought I’d include it.

Seems the latest trend in the biz is to have your own theme song. Armin did it first for his ASOT 600 tour, and now the Swedish House Mafia brothers have devised one. Attached to this sweet preview comes a shockingly high-definition rendering of marbleized musical instruments being blown up… “We Came, We Rave, We Love” is slated for an official release later this spring.

One of the things on which this blog subsists are the bizarre connections drawn between music of such a wide range of varietals; trap remixes of indie music meld with slow-tempo’d pop makeovers in a seamless juxtaposition formulated from top hits, best searches and suggestions, and (if I may be so presumptuous) a keen eye on the charts. So here Scuba sits, staring out into an incredibly foggy Manhattan abyss, and he can only think, “Today is for trance.”

With ASOT 600: NYC tickets on the verge of sale, it was too fitting to be falling back in love with these light, low-stress beats of ethereal happiness. Dutch master Dash Berlin is a particular favorite, with some beautiful videos to match his painstakingly-perfect studio productions. Fingers crossed he’ll be joining us March 30th for #ASOT600NYC…!
